PERMITS VALID FOR:
Single trip permits are usually valid for one (1) trip; there is no limit on the number of days. Returns are not allowed.
OPERATING TIME
One-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset; loads up to and including 10 feet wide may travel at night on interstate highways only providing: 1) All other dimensions (i.e. overall length and height) are legal (length of single unit within combination can exceed 60') 2) Vehicle and/or load is properly signed and lighted:
"Oversize Load" signs front and rear Amber clearance light on each front corner and red clearance light on each rear corner of the load (or vehicle whichever is wider) and a revolving amber light, amber strobe or two (2) two-way flashing amber lights at least 4 inches in diameter, mounted on the vehicle visible to both front and rear.
WEEKEND TRAVEL
Travel permitted Saturday and Sunday sunrise to sunset.
DIVISIBLE LOADS
Loads must be reduced, dismantled or divided as much as possible when overweight and oversize. Oversize and overweight permits are issued only for one piece loads. When an oversize load includes two or more items being hauled along with a one piece oversize item which is permitted for its oversize, the two or more pieces will be allowed so long as the entire load is being transported or hauled on the same trailer and their combined dimensions do not exceed the dimensions of, or change the configuration of the permitted portion of the load.
EXCEPTIONS
Blades, buckets, counterweights, etc can remain attached as long as it is not overweight. Loads of heavy equipment (i.e. bulldozers with blades and rippers attached and cranes with counterweights and booms attached) loaded in configuration closely approximating operational configurations, shall generally not be considered readily divisible, if axle weights don't exceed the class B/C limits. Furthermore, loads of heavy equipment that meet these criteria, but have been partially dismantled and rearranged to achieve safer highway configurations, may also be allowed if the appropriate permit issuing authorities agree the highway safety has been enhanced by the re-arrangement. Overweight loads shall be arranged to approximately equalize the weight between axle groups when possible. Any overweight loads that exceed the class B/C axle limits must be dismantled regardless of inconvenience.
INFORMATION NEEDED TO ORDER A WIDE LOAD, OVERSIZE AND HEAVY HAUL PERMIT
Company name and address, tractor unit number, origin and destination, routes traveled, load description (detailed), axle configuration and spacings, overall dimensions, length of the single unit including overhang, tractor license number, total miles to be travelled, axle and gross weight and tire size. Permits have to be pre-ordered on Holidays to pick up at the Port of Entry.
ESCORTS FOR WIDELOAD AND OVERSIZED SHIPPING

When any portion of vehicle extends to the left of the highway centerline 2 (Front & Rear)
Width over 14' or more 2 (Front & Rear)
Height escorts determined by WY highway patrol (permittee held responsible for clearances)
On Interstate (4 or More Lanes):
Width 15' or more 1 Rear
Width additional escorts may be required by the WY Highway Patrol for extreme width
Length or Height escorts determined at discretion of WY Highway Patrol
Restricted Travel
Permit issuing authorities may restrict movements to the daylight hours of minimum traffic volume; such hours may be stipulated as a condition of the move. Travel can be restricted at times due to inclement weather.

SPRING WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS
No specific annual restrictions; restrictions may be imposed as necessary.
Overweight, Oversized & Wide Load Super Loads
Axle configurations that normally are not seen by the Department will require special approval. Any weight over 150,000 lbs will also require a review.
Drawings should include the axle weights and axle spacings. Drawings of the rear may be required to view the number of tires. Include overall dimensions, scale weights if possible or top view, origin and destination, routes to be traveled with the application for a super load. Bridge and routes survey is charged at $50 per hour and must be paid regardless if the move takes place.
Applications take one to three weeks for processing.
